My name is Juan Amaya, this is my first semester at CSUMB. I am a transfer student from Hartnell College, but I completed my transferring credits by assisting to different community colleges; including, Los Angeles Valley College and Los Angeles Mission College. My studies at Hartnell College revolved around business. In 2013, I graduated with honors, obtaining an Associate of Science in Business Administration which allowed me to sharpen my skills in management, customer service, business procedures, and human relationships, between many others. On January 2008, I acquired an Accounting Certificate at Los Angeles Valle College with a 3.58 GPA.
I am originally from El Salvador. But, in 2003, I moved into the United States. I had a very challenging beginning in the United States, since I barely spoke English so communication was a real obstacle to overcome. The same year, I decided to enroll in ESL classes at a community college while working full time.
Now, my next goal is to graduate from CSU Monterrey Bay, and make a career in business. Currently, I am learning the necessary skills to pass the Certify Public Accounting (CPA) test. In the future, I would like to work for a CPA firm, or in the best of the scenarios to build my own business.
