I like the way the Bus306 Fundamental of Marketing has been designed. Even though, this is an online class, the design allows student to focus on important topics of the marketing world. I was wondering at the beginning how a Marketing class could work in an online environment, since, I had some clues this class need a lot of interaction with peer, and instructors to understand the marketing topics. Now, I realize that the class is designed to cover all of the face to face in classroom lecture. The class includes helpful material like video base lectures, important links, instruction, and forums that help students to do well in the class.
The writing assignments of the Bus306 class requires a lot of critical thinking, then, it is necessary to read to understand which means, paying a lot of attention to details. On this part, I would like to thank my instructor for discovering the opportunity I had to improve my writing skills. The writing part of this class will help me to do well in future classes, in my graduation project, and during my career.
Taking this class was a good decision. My understanding of marketing has completely changed at this point of the semester. I recognize, that I had the traditional idea that marketing was all about selling, advertising, and making profits. The class lectures, and the reading of the Principles of Marketing described by Kotler and Armstrong, have opened my understanding about marketing. Now, I know marketing involves understanding customer necessities which include a comprehensive level of research, and resources companies have to use, to know about the behavior of market they are involved. Also, I have learned that a good marketing strategy include having good relationship with suppliers, distributors, and many more entities that participate in the process of delivering value to customers.
My goal after graduation is to have my own business. Then, the marketing concepts learned during the semester will help me a lot. I am sure that the current marketing analysis will contribute to develop my future business idea more effectively. For example, on designing a customer necessities mission and avoiding “Myopia” the type of mission that focuses on product features; also, use segmentation to better understand customers necessities; and last but not least, understand that successful business are tuning “green” meaning that they are taking decision based on social and environment sustainability to guarantee long and profitable value relationship with customer and society as whole.
